(post title stolen from Andrew)

Andrew lent me this book, its the first from a series of fantasy novels by Garth Nix. I started reading it, and its interesting but I haven't really had time to just sit at home and read. I don't like reading anywhere else. I'm going to try and dedicate some time to reading a little more this weekend, at the very least to show Andrew that I don't hate it. Hah.

Its about a girl named Sabriel whose father, Terciel, is a Necromancer. Or actually, the reverse of a Necromancer, he is the Abhorsen. The Abhorsen's job is to put the dead to rest.

Sabriel is learning her father's craft when she discovers that Terciel has been trapped somewhere in the Old Kingdom and she must embark upon a journey to save him from Death. That's as far as I've gotten.

I am intrigued, but I've been so bad about reading lately. Bleh.

My mom gave me White Teeth by Zadie Smith for my birthday last year, in an effort to wean me off of fantasy and Neil Gaiman, haha. When I gave her a list of books that I wanted (most I had already read, I just wanted to own them) she forwarded it to one of her tenants that enjoyed reading probably much more than I do. He sent her a list of similar authors or books he thought I might enjoy. So she bought me this one and another one that I wound up lending to my brother and haven't gotten back.

I need to get on this! I read the first couple pages and really enjoyed the voice of the narrator, I just haven't gotten around to reading more. So sad.

I'm LAZY!

What are you guys reading right now? Anything you would recommend? Let me know!
